New Delhi, Oct 29: Prince Charles took a joy ride on the Delhi Metro today and left impressed with the new mass rapid transport system in the national capital.

After ferrying several VIPs, Delhi Metro rail rolled out a red carpet for the royal visitor who enjoyed a ride from Kashmeere Gate to Welcome Station at Shahdra, a six km stretch.
The prince, who spent 45 minutes with the Metro officials, was received by the architect of this prestigious project E Sreedharan during his ride, DMRC spokesman Anuj Dayal said here.
Prince Charles also interacted with the foreign consultants including 10 British nationals associated with DMRC, Dayal said.
The visiting dignitary was presented a book depicting the complexities experienced during the initial phases and provided a bird's eye view of the world class technology, he said.
Dayal said that the prince was impressed with the Metro and left "very happy" after the joy ride.
