National Democratic Alliance convenor George Fernandes on Tuesday night met Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee ahead of Wednesday's NDA meeting.
It was not immediately known what transpired at the meeting held at the Prime Minister's residence immediately after a meeting of the union cabinet.
A meeting of the NDA has been convened on Thursday to take stock of the situation arising out of the Prime Minister offering to quit office saying that he has not been able to manage the ruling NDA coalition.
Vajpayee's remark came a day after one of the alliance partners, Shiv Sena, mounted a sharp attack on his office over the UTI muddle.
