French jazz pianist and composer Jacques Loussier filed suit against Eminem and Interscope Records last week in a federal court in New York City, accusing the rapper of copyright infringement. The suit claims that Eminem lifted portions of Loussier`s piece "Pulsion," on his single "Kill You," the first track from the smash hit album "The Marshall Mathers LP". Loussier is seeking unspecified damages.

A teenage graduate of France`s prestigious Conservatoire National de Musique, Loussier formed the Play Bach Trio in 1959, and was an acclaimed innovator, fusing his love of jazz and classical music by introducing improvisations into the works of J.S. Bach. A series of four recordings made in the early Sixties were an international success, selling more than 6 million copies. "Pulsion" stems from Loussier`s Eighties work, during which he continued to play fusionist, working in rock & roll elements into his jazz/classical creation. Bureau Report
