India and Singapore should undertake a joint initiative to tap the Chinese market, Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) said on Thursday in New Delhi. Singapore companies have close linkages with the Chinese customer base and can look at India as a significant source. By the same token, India can import and absorb a lot of goods, originating from China, CII president, Sanjeev Goenka, said in Singapore.
Addressing the Singapore-India Conference on Trade and Economic Cooperation, jointly organised by the CII and the Indian High Commission in Singapore, Goenka said China was a huge market which Singapore and India could jointly tap to mutual advantage. Goenka further said the two nations must work together towards doubling trade volume and called for a quantum jump in India-Singapore trade volume.

Speaking on the occasion, Goenka's Singapore counterpart Robin Lau, said India represented an attractive investment destination. “Even if China was a huge market, huge investment opportunity in India should not be overlooked,” he said. Bureau Report
