Protesting the suspension of its member Devi Singh Bhati, opposition BJP members on Thursday decided to boycott the assembly's budget session.
BJP legislators cannot endorse the unconstitutional, undemocratic and unjustified decision of the house taken by the brute majority of the ruling Congress for suspending Bhati for the remaining period of the session, leader of opposition Bhairon Singh Shekhawat wrote in a letter to speaker Paras Ram Maderna.
He said that the BJP legislators would boycott the house for the remaining period of the session.
BJP members, led by Gulab Chand Kataria, also met the speaker requesting revocation of Bhati's suspension. Bhati was suspended from the house for using intemperate language against a woman minister after a motion moved by Congress chief whip Hari Singh Mahuwa was carried by a voice vote amidst stiff protest from the BJP on Wenesday.
