Opposition blames govt for failure to protect lives in Manipur
Imphal, May 28: Several political parties and social organisations today demanded resignation of congress-led Secular Progressive Front (SPF) ministry headed by Chief Minister Ibobi Singh for its alleged total failure in protecting innocent lives in the state.

Talking to mediapersons here, leader of the opposition Federal Party of Manipur in the assembly, M Nilachandra Singh said a series of criminal incidents had taken place since SPF government assumed power about one and half years ago.
The criminal incidents, including kidnappings and killings of individuals for ransom by militants, had created a sense of insecurity in the minds of the people, Nilachandra Singh said alleging the government had failed to contain the criminal activities of some militants.
Condemning the kidnapping and killing of local cloth merchant Manoj Kumar Sethi, Nilachandra Singh apprehended more such incidents in the future if the present situation was not tackled effectively. Meanwhile, BJP national vice president Pyarelal Khandelwal, who is now touring the state, also demanded immediate resignation of the SPF ministry saying it had no moral right to continue in the office.
Speaking at a function at G M Hall here yesterday, Khandelwal condemned the kidnapping and killing of Sethi and added that SPF government had failed to control the law and order situation in the state.
Terming the Sethi's killing as an act of terrorism, Sapamcha Jadumani, president of the Apex Body United Committee Manipur, said such activities had made the public restless and insecure. Bureau Report
