Imphal, May 28: Several political parties and social organisations today demanded resignation of congress-led Secular Progressive Front (SPF) ministry headed by Chief Minister Ibobi Singh for its alleged total failure in protecting innocent lives in the state. Talking to mediapersons here, leader of the opposition Federal Party of Manipur in the assembly, M Nilachandra Singh said a series of criminal incidents had taken place since SPF government assumed power about one and half years ago. The criminal incidents, including kidnappings and killings of individuals for ransom by militants, had created a sense of insecurity in the minds of the people, Nilachandra Singh said alleging the government had failed to contain the criminal activities of some militants.
Condemning the kidnapping and killing of local cloth merchant Manoj Kumar Sethi, Nilachandra Singh apprehended more such incidents in the future if the present situation was not tackled effectively.
