New Delhi, June 13: Pressing forward their demand for implementation of conditional access system on a "first-priority" basis, the capital's cable operators today met Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit and sought her "whole-hearted" support for the same. "If the government is serious on its claims of being consumer friendly, CAS should be implemented on a first-priority basis," the delegation told Dikshit. They also conveyed to the chief minister that CAS would not only bring transparency but it would also help the cable operators to come out of "the clutches of the pay channel broadcasters," a statement by Cable Operators Federation of India said here. The operators alleged that the channel broadcasters, who were in some cases the multi system operators also, were trying to waive off the service tax on Set Top Boxes in the interest of consumers.
