Jaipur, Oct 22: Congress today criticised BJP for
trying to use the stature of Vice President Bhairon Singh
Shekhawat for its political advantage in the coming assembly
elections.
"We hope that Shekhawat, who is arriving in Jaipur to
celebrate his 81st birthday tomorrow, will perform his role of
an elder man judiciously despite the fact that his old party
colleagues would like to exploit his stature to their
advantage," spokesman of Pradesh Congress Committee Mohan
Prakash said here.
"We wish him all the best for his good future on the eve of his birthday but hope that he would protect dignity of the high office he is occupying," Prakash said.
He alleged that BJP was launching a constitutional authority to woo the electorate in Rajasthan because it had no issue to fight electoral battle.
He asserted that Congress would return to power with a bigger majority than the two thirds of seats it had won in the 1998 polls.
