Funeral procession of Mahant begins
Ayodhya, Aug 01: A large number of people today carried the body of Ram Janambhoomi Nyas president Paramhans Ramchandra Das in a procession from the Digambar Akhara for cremation on the banks of Saryu river.

The funeral procession accompanied by religious leaders, which began amidst tight security from the Akhara, the abode of the Mahant where he breathed his last yesterday, made a brief halt at VHP workshops at Karsevakpuram and Chhoti Chavni.
People in large numbers flocked the streets to have a glimpse of the Mahant's body, which is being taken around the temple town before being consigned to flames on the Tulsi Ghat in the afternoon.
Elaborate security arrangements have been made with CRPF and PAC deployed in addition to the forces already present in the town in view of visits of Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and other VIPs to the attend the cremation.
