Guwahati, May 06: The second man in Ulfa hierarchy, 'Commander-in-Chief' Paresh Baruah's house was attacked by unidentified gunmen in Assam's Dibrugarh district early today, police said. Although Baruah was not in the house as he is reportedly hiding in a neighbouring country, his mother and two brothers along with their families were asleep in the house at the time of the attack around 1.45 am.
No casualty was reported, they said.
Police said that the assailants came in a vehicle to Baruah's house at Jerai Chakaligharia village, under Chabua police station and opened indiscriminate fire.

Security men deployed at Baruah's house retaliated forcing the attackers to flee.
The identity of the gunmen could not be immediately ascertained, police said adding investigation was on.

During search operations police recovered 44 rounds of empty cases of AK-47 rifle fired by the attackers who sprayed the bullets at the tin roof of the house.
