New Delhi, Nov 13: Newly crowned men's junior National Champions Services Sports Control Board dominated the ring today, with all their four pugilists winning the pre quarterfinals bouts in the 1st All India B D Chandiwala-Sai Junior Men's Boxing Championship at the Indira Gandhi Indoor stadium here.
Spearheading the services campaign was Sarbjit Singh in the 91+ kg category as he outclassed Haryana's Narender to enter the quarterfinals.
All of the Services' victories came off referee stopping the contest (RSC). Sanjay K Kolte in the 48-kg and Anil Kumar in the 71-kg kept the services flag flying high while Vinod Kumar in the 81-kg delivered the final punch. Punjab was not far behind, Amandeep Singh in the 48-kg and Ranjeet Singh in the 67-kg emerging victors. Khushdeep Singh in 71-kg won when he opened a cut below the right eye of Chandigarh's Ranvir Singh in the second round of the bout.
But Chandigarh camp had its revenge when Arihant Kumar left Amrit Avtar literally counting his teeth in the 91-kg event.
In another contest, the new rule of compulsory one-month's medical rest after a knock-out defeat forced Aneesh Kumar of Uttar Pradesh to withdraw from his 81-kg fight against Nishant Verma of Delhi. Bureau Report
