Hubli, June 22: BJP today said that a regional party in the state would not serve national interest and termed as "immature", the move by Dharwad north MP Vijay Sankeshwar of launching "Kannada Nadu". National parties like BJP, Congress and the Janata Parivar would be able to work for the development of the state and for that, there was no need for a new regional party, BJP's state unit president, Basavaraj K Patil Sedam told reporters here ahead of the two day convention of the party here.

The two-day convention would deliberate on the ensuing assembly polls next year and decide on appointing 10,000 election assistants to play a role in the party's campaign.

It would also highlight the achievements by the NDA-led government in the Centre and also raise issues against the ruling Congress government in the state.
