ADB to provide USD 2.6 bn to Pakistan for devpt projects
Islamabad, May 12: The Asian Development Bank (ADB) will give Pakistan 2.6 billion dollars over the next three years for development projects and the construction of a highway linking Afghanistan with the Gwadar deep sea port in south-west Baluchistan province, officials said.

"This amount would be enhanced for the different
development projects especially the construction of Gwadar to
Afghanistan road for the promotion of regional trade between
Pakistan, Afghanistan and central Asia republics," an ADB
official told today.
"Pakistan's economic reforms are one the best programmes in the region", the ADB's South Asia director general Yoshihiro Iwasaki said during a meeting with Pakistan's finance minister Shaukat Aziz here yesterday.
The ADB would also support construction of roads within Afghanistan, Iwasaki said. Bureau Report
