Kolkata, Sept 26: Forty people have been admitted to
a hospital at Bongaon in West Bengal's North 24-Parganas
district with complaints of jaundice, Health Department
sources said today.
District Chief Medical Officer (Health) S Saha said 40
people in Bongaon (ward number 1) were admitted to the hospital
with complaints of jaundice yesterday.
The district health officers visited the spot and asked
the residents not to use the existing tubewells for their
drinking water purposes since these were suspected sources of
the disease.
Saha said water samples from the tubewells had been
collected for examination. A team of experts from the School of Tropical Medicine would visit the area tomorrow, he said.
