Srinagar, Aug 01: In second major success in the murder case of PDP legislator Abdul Aziz Mir, security personnel shot dead top Hizbul Mujahiden militant Niyaz Ahmad Sheikh, who masterminded the killing, in Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir, police sources said today. Two gujjar boys, caught in the cross fire, were also killed in the operation launched by Rashtriya Rifles in Nagberan forest in Tral township last night on a tip off, they said.

The sources said that Sheikh alias Kinga fired on the security personnel when asked to surrender and was killed in retaliatory firing.

The militant was carrying a fake identity card and was identified as Kinga, resident of Konibal village of Pampore, only after his body was handed over to police.
Security personnel had been on the look out for Sheikh, a most wanted militant in South Kashmir, after the killing of Mir outside a mosque at Pampore on December 20 last year.

On July 8 security personnel arrested prime accused in the case Sheraz Ahmad Reshi from Drangbal who confessed he killed Mir on the directions of Kinga and another associate Sarfaraz who is still at large.
The gujjar boys killed in the firing were identified as Mohammad Iqbal and Kala Gujjar.
