Srinagar, Oct 23: The Hurriyat conference executive committee will meet here today to discuss the Centre's decision that Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani will hold talks with the separatist conglomerate, former Hurriyat chairman Abdul Gani Bhat said here yesterday.
"We will be meeting tomorrow to discuss the offer of talks in depth and detail and come up with a decision reflecting the aspirations of the people of the entire South Asian region," Bhat told reporters here.
Bhat, a confidante of Hurriyat chairman Maulana Mohammad Abbas Ansari, said it was too early to comment on whether the government of India was serious about the talks offer ... or if the Hurriyat is serious or for that matter Pakistan is serious about the announcements made in Delhi today."
Asked if the split in Hurriyat would be an impediment to the dialogue process, he "said the forces of history are more relevant than splits or no splits in the forum."
"I hope that the leadership in Delhi and Islamabad will rise to the occasion. While demonstrating a deeper sense of responsibility and higher degree of understanding, they should take the people of Jammu and Kashmir into confidence and move towards an acceptable, honourable and durable solution to the Kashmir problem," Bhat added.
