Chandigarh, Oct 03: Punjab Vigilance Bureau today refused to comment on the corruption case registered against Former Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal when his son Rajya Sabha MP Sukhbir Badal failed to turn up for questioning at the agency's office here. The Vigilance Bureau had issued a notice to Sukhbir to appear for questioning in the corruption case, but he refused to be present and informed the investigating officials that he would appear before them only on October 8, along with his father, official sources said.
"Presently they have nothing to say on Badal's case," a messenger sent by Punjab VB director A P Pandey told reporters waiting outside his office here. The case registered against Badals on June 24 is considered as a litmus test for the agency.
Sources in the agency admitted that questioning the father-son duo together on October 8t would be "difficult" and indicated that Sukhbir was likely to be interrogated at a later date. Besides Badal and his son, the VB office had issued notices to the former Chief Minister's daughter Preneet Kaur, and son-in-law Adesh Pratap Singh Kairon who was out of the country. Bureau Report
