Khalida calls for religious tolerance, greets Hindus
Dhaka, Oct 04: Bangladesh Prime Minister Begum Khalida Zia, while expressing her good wishes to the Hindu community on the occasion of durga puja, has urged all to help maintain the fame of Bangladesh as a country of religious tolerance and harmony both nationally and internationally.

harmony both nationally and internationally.
Receiving a 17-member delegation of the trustees of
the Hindu Religious Welfare Trust, Khalida termed Bangladesh
as a "country of religious harmony" adding that members of all
religions have played a substantial role in achieving this
religious bonhomie.
"We have to maintain the tradition so that all
religious communities can perform their respective religious
rites properly", she said.
The Hindu Religious Welfare Trust expressed gratitude
to the government for providing grants and cooperation for
making their festival a success, adding that highest ever
number of puja mandaps, about 17500, were set up this year.
