Jammu, Aug 02: Curfew remained in force for the second consecutive day today even as no fresh incident was reported from Kishtwar town of Jammu and Kashmir, after communal clashes broke out in the area.
Police and para-military troops continued to be deployed to maintain law and order and no untoward incident was reported from anywhere in the town since last evening, an official spokesman said.
Curfew was clamped in the town after communal clashes erupted yesterday in which thirteen people, including two officials, were injured, seven shops and small structures burnt and twelve shops looted.
Army had also conducted flag marches in the town for some hours after clashes between the members of two communities during the BJP-sponsored bandh in protest against the stepped militant activities in Nagfani-Puller areas of Kishtwar in the district.
