Srinagar, Sept 08: In a precursor of events to come, supporters of Hurriyat Conference chairman Maulana Mohammad Abbas Ansari and Mirwaiz Umar Farooq today stormed the office of the amalgam's headquarters at Rajbagh here. The Hurriyat Conference had split vertically yesterday after 13 members of the general council decided to oust Ansari and suspend his executive, "a move described as unconstitutional and illegal" by the Hurriyat chairman. Hundreds of slogan shouting supporters of Ansari occupied the Hurriyat office as a pre-emptive move to stop the breakaway group from doing the same. Ansari has called for an emergency meeting of the Hurriyat executive committee today to decide the course of action to be taken against the rebels. Bureau Report
