Montreal, June 14: Jenson Button has been given the all-clear to compete in Sunday's Canadian Grand Prix after passing a routine medical examination on Thursday.
The 23-year-old Briton was knocked unconscious when he crashed his BAR-Honda at 180mph in practice for the Monaco Grand Prix. He was forced to miss the race and also sat out testing in Monza this week. But he was finally cleared to get behind the wheel again by Formula One safety delegate Professor Sid Watkins.
"Having two weeks off is good, you can relax but you do want to get back in the car and I can't wait really," said Button. "I will get in the car and won't think anything of what happened at all. I wasn't thinking about it two days after the accident.
"It does makes you more aware of the risks. It hurt quite a bit but to be able to walk away from something like that without any real problems is good.
"I won't drive any differently. If you crash with another car and it's quite severe it can be a little bit damaging when you come to try and overtake someone again, but when you do it on your own I don't think it causes any problems."
