New Delhi, May 02: A dreaded inter-state gangster allegedly involved in subversive activities and heinous crimes in various parts of the country, has been arrested here by the Delhi police. Salim alias Bucchan Mian alias Sharifuddin alias Shafiq alias Boss (48), hailing from Kishanganj in Bihar, was nabbed at Nizamuddin railway station last evening by special cell sleuths, joint commissioner of police (special cell) Neeraj Kumar said. Arrested on the basis of specific information, Salim was wanted in Delhi, West Bengal and Bihar for 32 cases of heinous crimes and subversive activities, he said. Some prominent cases against him included killing of policemen and robbing passengers aboard trains by feeding them eatables and drinks laced with sedatives, Kumar said. Police sources said that Salim also acted as a muscleman for candidates contesting elections in Kishanganj and in the north Dinajpur area of Bihar.

Bihar police believe that he has committed a number of subversive acts in north Dinajpur, they said.

He was produced before duty magistrate V K Goel at Patiala house courts and was sent to two days' police custody.
