Anantapur (AP), July 05: Atleast 20 people were injured in a stampede at a function organised to distribute clothes to the poor in Anantapur district of Andhra Pradesh today. The incident occurred at Kadiri town when a large number of people, gathered at a temple premises, jostled and tripped over each other in a hurry to receive their share of the largesse, police said. Anantapur zilla parishad chairman J Suryanarayana was distributing clothes to the poor.

The injured were admitted to a local hospital, police said, adding their condition was now stable. Bureau Report
