Amritsar, July 27: Punjab chief minister Amarinder today said that he was in favour of setting up fast track courts for speedy trial of ministers of the previous Shirmomani Akali Dal government arrested on charges of corruption.
Singh told reporters here that he would meet the chief justice of Punjab and Haryana high court for setting up fast track courts for day to day hearing of cases related to all the former sad ministers who were arrested by vigilance bureau in corruption cases.
Justifying action against his predecessor Parkash Singh Badal and the raids on his premises, Singh said, "the key issue for our government is not to arrest Badal, but the motive is to expose his bad deeds" so that people come to know how he enjoyed the comforts at the taxpayer's expense.
Hitting hard at Badal, Amarinder alleged "I know the Badal family... Each of their family member is neck deep in corruption and the state investigating agencies are busy doing their homework to prepare a foolproof case against them".
He described the Badal as kingpin of corruption and said "initially Parkash Singh Badal and his family's involvement in corruption came to light when former chairman of Punjab Public Service Commission Ravinder Pal Singh Sidhu was arrested in job scam and interrogated by the state vigilance agencies".
