Moscow, Sept 05: A World War II combat grenade was found on Thursday on the grounds of the Russian central bank in downtown Moscow, police said.
Construction workers unearthed the grenade while digging on the grounds of the bank, an ornate building not far from the Kremlin. Bomb squad members put the grenade in a container and took it to a firing range to be detonated, Moscow police spokesman Yevgeny Gildeyev said.

World War II grenades are strewn across western Russia, which was overrun during the conflict. Some have exploded, killing or injuring those who have found them. Bureau Report
