Kolkata, July 10: An inter-state racket in ganja smuggling has been busted with the arrest of three persons and recovery of 465 kg of the contraband during raids in Kolkata and Nabadwip in West Bengal, a senior official of Narcotics Control Bureau said here today. NCB assistant director N C Patra told news agencies that 363 kg of ganja, concealed in a jeep, was seized after chasing the vehicle near the city on July 2. Two occupants of the vehicle were arrested.

Interrogations revealed that the ganja consignment was being transported to the city from Manipur, he said.
In another raid at Nabadwip in Nadia district on July 8, NCB sleuths seized 102 kg of ganja from a house.
Patra said that the NCB sleuths arrested a woman but the smuggler was absconding.

The woman was produced in court which remanded her to jail custody for 14 days, he added.

Patra said that the two seizures were believed to have a connection with the june-27 major haul of about 390 kg of the contraband concealed in a godown in Kolkata's Beliaghata area. The ganja, valued at over Rs 11 crore in international market, was smuggled out from Manipur, he said.

NCB sleuths had earlier seized 1,557 kg of ganja from Nabadwip in May last.
