Cuttack (Orissa), Jan 23: The first phase of the Netaji Birth Place Museum, being set up at Janakinath Bhavan in the Oriya Bazar Locality here, will be inaugurated today by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik. Janakinath Bhavan is the ancestral home of Netaji where he was born.
The Union culture ministry, which had sanctioned Rs 1.5 crore for the three-year project, had released Rs 75 lakh last year as the first installment.
The trust for art, culture and heritage (Intach) had taken up renovation of the sprawling building and finishing touches were being provided to four rooms of the ground floor to display various articles linked to Netaji including family photographs, D. Prabhakar, project manager, Intach, said.
A hat stand and an easy chair would be kept in the entrance room.
Other household articles including a toy shelf, a showcase and a revolving bookshelf would find place in the second room, Prabhakar said.
Memories of Netaji's political and jail life would be put on show in the other two rooms.
Prabhakar said though the museum was to be set up in three years, it would be completed much earlier.
Work would start on the second phase soon and completed by July-August this year, he said. Bureau Report
