Mumbai, Oct 10: The Mumbai High Court today adjourned till October 13 the plea of Maharashtra government for cancellation of bail granted to dismissed CISF contable Rajnarayan Namdeo who had shot dead his senior four months ago. Justice Vijaya Tahilramani today did not preside over the court which was to hear the government's petition. The matters appearing on the board were adjourned to next week.

Namdeo was released from central prison on October 8 following bail granted to him by a sessions court. On the same day he was served with a copy of the petition filed by the government in the high court to cancel his bail.
Sessions court, on October 6, had granted liberty to Namdeo on certain conditions. He was asked to report to the court whenever required and was refrained from leaving the city limits. He was also warned not to tamper with witnesses.

The government challenged this order in the high court saying it was bad in law. Releasing Namdeo on bail would send a wrong signal to the society.

He said that the judge ought to have considered that Namdeo was serving as constable with CISF, a central government agency entrusted with the task of providing security at the airport including security of VIPs. CISF was a disciplinary force and any untoward act like that of Namdeo would have an adverse impact on the organisation, the petition contended.
The petition urged that the judge had erred in granting bail to Namdeo and prayed that the impugned order be quashed.

Namdeo had shot dead deputy commandant a Karanjkar on May 24 after he was refused leave. Namdeo told police that the officer was arrogant and had insulted him.
