New Delhi, Oct 13: The Supreme Court today issued notices to Debaprasad Mukherjee and his group on a petition filed by Mohun Bagan Athletic Club and its general secretary Anjan Mitra challenging a Calcutta High Court order appointing a three-member committee to run the affairs of the club. Refusing to stay the High Court order, a bench comprising Justice S Rajendra Babu and Justice G P Mathur asked the respondents to file objections to the petition within two weeks. Appearing for the petitioner, senior advocate Kapil Sibal sought modification in the High Court order, which was opposed to by the respondents' advocate Uday Umesh Lalit and Satyajit Saha saying that the present arrangement was working fine and the football team has won three of the four major tournaments it participated recently. The High Court had on May 23 set up a three-member committee to run the affairs of the football team of the Mohun Bagan Club and ordered the existing executive committee to work under the guidance of the three-member panel. It had asked Balaram Choudhary, assistant general secretary of the Club to render assistance to the panel. In respect of other affairs of the club, the High Court had said that the existing executive committee would continue to manage the affairs of the club subject to any directions of the three-member committee that may be issued by them in the matter concerning the football team.
