Bhopal, Oct 24: Stating that free and fair elections will be held on December 01 in Madhya Pradesh, Chief Minister Digvijay Singh today said that the Election Commission's directive for action against some government officials would
be complied with.
"We will comply with the directions and instructions given by the Election Commission. All necessary steps will be taken to ensure free and fair polling", he told reporters
here.
EC has asked the Madhya Pradesh government to transfer nearly half-a-dozen senior district officials for their alleged involvement in political activities in the run up to the assembly polls while certain others have been kept under observation. Asked about the likelihood of electoral understanding between Congress and BSP, Singh said, "There is no such proposal as of now and the party is having tie-up only with Republican Party of India".
On a senior official reportedly seeking his permission to commit suicide, the Chief Minister said, "Some body who wants to commit suicide, does not seek permission from any one". To a query on election commission's reported stand to make poll preparations on the basis of 45 undivided districts without including the three new districts of Anuppur, Ashok Nagar and Burhanpur, Singh said it would not make any difference as the three districts came into operation in August.
