Without a fraction of doubt, there`s nothing in Hollywood hotter right now than this young Irish actor. Hailed as the new Brad Pitt, Colin Farrell defines the "It" boy of the moment in tinsel town. Almost out of nowhere the brooding bad boy is suddenly the toast of the industry. His clean cut dashing looks notwithstanding, Farrell deserves credit for his unconventional choice of roles that racks up a formidable career in a remarkably short period of time. Despite a few early movies, among which `Tigerland` rises above the rest, it was really "Minority Report" headlined by Tom Cruise no less, that established Farrell as a name to reckon with. It was no mean feat that a little known actor stole the thunder from a superstar like Cruise in one of the season`s hottest releases.
Post "Minority Report" where he played the agent hot on the heels of Cruise`s renegade cop, Farrell once again defied logic by opting for another out and out negative role in this year`s "Daredevil". Once again, the volatile actor walked away with the accolades in a movie that cast Ben Affleck in the title role.
Next up, came "The Recruit" boasting of Al Pacino in the cast. This time Farrell played the lead role as a rookie recruit being moulded by the veteran Pacino. The film went on to become one of the year`s biggest hits.
Hardly has the frenzy around "Daredevil" and "The Recruit" died down, than comes another Farrell vehicle, primed for release. "Phone Booth" which stars Farrell in the lead, promises to be a gripping thriller all the way. At the helm is Joel Schumacher one of the biggest directors calling the shots in Hollywood today.
Whether or not "Phone Booth" proves to be as big as his last few releases, it`s a sure bet that the only direction Colin Farrell is headed in, is up. Filmography
