Sikh jatha in Pakistan to observe martyrdom day
Wagah, June 14: A Sikh jatha of 143 pilgrims today crossed over to Pakistan to observe the martyrdom day of fifth Sikh Guru Arjan Dev Ji at Gurdwara Dera Sahib in Lahore amidst tight security arrangements made by Pakistan government.

The Sikh jatha, led by SGPC member Sawinder Singh, was warmly welcomed by the Pakistan Sikh Gurdwara Prabhandhak Committee officials, including its chairman Mohammed Naim Akbar.
Extra security arrangements for the jatha have been made by Pakistan government this time which has providing a special cavalcade of five vehicles of Pakistan police.

The jatha, after crossing the red cliff, moved to Gurdwara Dera Sahib at Lahore, 35 kilometers away from Wagah where they were accorded warm welcome by the PSGPC and the Pakistan Sikh Sangat who showered rose petals on them.
After observing the martyrdom day on coming Tuesday, the jatha would proceed to Gurdwara Panja Sahib at Hasanabdal, nearly 500 km from Lahore.
As per the schedule, the jatha would reach Gurdwara Nankana Sahib, the birth place of first Sikh Guru Nanak Dev, on June 19 and after paying its obeisance, it would return to India on June 22.
