New Delhi, Jan 15: The investigating officer in the
Jessica Lall murder case today denied charges that he had not
seen any Tata Safari parked at the entrance of the Qutub
Colonnade in South Delhi, where the model was shot dead on the
night intervening April 29 and 30, 1999.
Sub Inspector Sunil Kumar Sharma was replying to the
defence counsels suggestion that he had not endorsed this fact
in the case diary as he had not seen the vehicle parked there.
"It is wrong that the omission is because...I did not
seen any Tata Safari at Qutub Colonnade," he told Additional
Sessions Judge Manju Goel. "It was not mandatory for me to do
so," he added.
According to prosecution, this vehicle ferried prime
accused Manu Sharma, son of former minister Vinod Sharma, to
the Colonnade on the fateful night. Later during the
commotion, they fled leaving behind the vehicle, but came back
to retrieve it.
