New Delhi, July 22: An unrelenting Opposition in the Lok Sabha today forced adjournment of the House for the second consecutive day as it pressed for the resignation of Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani over "dropping" of conspiracy charge against him in the Babri Masjid demolition case.
An unrelenting Opposition in the Lok Sabha today pressed for resignation of Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani for the second consecutive day over "dropping" of conspiracy charge against him in the Babri Masjid demolition case as the House witnessed uproarious scenes, forcing its adjournment for 90 minutes.
Immediately after a discussion on the terrorist killings in Jammu and Kashmir during the question hour, agitated members from the Congress, Samajwadi Party, RJD and left parties stormed the well shouting slogans "Advani istifa do" (Advani should resign).
As the pandemonium continued, members from TDP, an ally of ruling NDA, trooped to the well protesting against construction of `illegal" dams in upper Tunga river by Karnataka, saying this had stopped water supply to Krishna river creating a crisis for Andhra Pradesh.
Repeated pleas by Speaker Manohar Joshi for restoring order went unheeded. At one point, he said he was willing to permit a discussion on the issue relating to the demolition case but the opposition members were in no mood to relent. Shortly thereafter, Joshi ordered that television cameras be switched off.
The Opposition alleged that the charge of conspiracy against Advani, HRD Minister M M Joshi, BJP leader Uma Bharti and five others under Section 120 (B) IPC had been withdrawn by CBI under Centre`s pressure, a charge vehemently denied by the government.
Advani, who replied to the impromptu debate earlier on the terrorist attacks, left the House soon after the Opposition and TDP members marched into the well shouting slogans.
