Lucknow, Aug 28: Addressing a press conference here, Mayawati today came down heavily on BJP and other parties for maligning her. She accused the BJP of pressurising her to take illegal actions over issues of national importance. She said, "BJP wanted me to take back the case against leaders of their party involved in Ram Janambhoomi issue. But when I refused to give in and took an unbiased stand on my own, they termed my action as unsatisfactory. They then started creating hurdles for my government."
She added, "BJP, which happened to be our coalition partner then, started speaking Opposition`s language. So much so that on August 25, I was forced to quit."
"BJP has shown a lot of confidence in Mulayam Singh and his party to form the government in the state. But BJP has sinister designs in mind because of which they are supporting Mulayam`s government," she said.
"BJP will use the ASI report that has been made public revealing evidence of ancient temple structure at the disputed site of Ayodhya to their advantage for the general elections slated in 2004."
"The reason BJP is backing Mulayam to comes to power is because they feel he will give a green signal for Ram temple construction. As a result of which all Hindu votes will fall in BJP`s kitty," she said.
Mayawati also accused the BJP of planning her (Mayawati) government`s ouster for a long time.
