Betul (Madhya Pradesh), Nov 30: Former Madhya Pradesh minister and a rebel Congress candidate Ashok Savle was allegedly abducted while returning from an election gathering.
Savle, who was recently expelled by Congress for six years, after his nomination as a Samajwadi Party candidate from Betul went missing while returning from an election rally in Chicholi area, Samajwadi Party sources said.
Police has registered a case of abduction on the basis of a complaint filed at Betul police station by Savle's younger brother Vijay.
According to the complaint lodged by Vijay, when Ashok Savle was returning from an election meeting, his vehicle was intercepted near Deogarh by about a dozen people who took him away.
"Efforts were on to trace the missing candidate," SP A K Singh said.
