Shimla, Oct 29: Himachal Pradesh government has given its consent for hiking water tariff in Shimla Municipal Corporation and its adjoining areas for all categories of consumers, including domestic consumers. The revised rates would be formally approved by the corporation at its meeting scheduled for tomorrow and would come into force from Novermber 06 next.
According to notification issued by government, the charges for domestic consumers within municipal corporation had been raised from Rs 2.50 per kilolitre to Rs 3.50 per kilolitre for consumption upto 30,000 litres per month.
For consumption between 30,000 litres and 75,000 litres per month, the charges would be Rs 5 per kilolitre while for consumption above 75,000 litres, the charges would be Rs 7.50 per kilolitre per month.
The revised charges for domestic consumers outside the Shimla Municipal Corporation area would be Rs 12.50 per kilolitre for consumption upto 30,000 litres, Rs 15 per kilolitres for consumption between 30,000 litres and 75,000 litres and Rs 17.50 per kilolitres for consumption over 75,000 litres per month.
For commercial supply, the charges within Shimla Municipal Corporation area had been raised from Rs 12.50 per kilolitre to Rs 15 per kilolitre for consumption upto 30,000 litres.
