Itanagar, Mar 11: The Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee has charged the state government of effecting large scale transfers and posting in government departments after the model code of conduct came into force on February 28 and urged the state Election Commission to take action against it.
In a letter to Chief Electoral Officer M K Parida, a copy of which was also sent to the Chief Secretary yesterday, APCC leader and former chief minister Mukut Mithi asked for necessary action that violated its code of conduct.
He said the state government was backdating the orders on postings and transfers to escape EC's observation.
The EC had on February 29 announced the model code of conduct for political parties and government and said that it would be implemented strictly.
