New Delhi, Nov 14: Releasing the Hindi version of world famous book ‘Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone’ translated as ‘Harry Potter and Paras Pathar’, Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani today expressed concern at the gradual decline in interest in reading among children and youth. "Nowadays, the culture of TV is spread all over. Children and youth today use their time to watch TV and not read," he said and noted that there were "no such distractions" when he was young.
He said reading books at a young age has a healthy impact on the lives of people.
"I have a passion for books and still read, though I have less time for it," the Deputy Prime Minister said.
He said the translation of the famous book by British author J K Rowling would benefit children in the country.
Sudhir Dixit, who has translated the book into Hindi, said he faced certain difficulties after taking up the "challenge".
