PMO official files defamation against Awami leader, editors
Dhaka, June 11: A senior Awami League leader has been sued for defamation by Salahuddin Quader Chowdhury, adviser of Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia, for challenging his nomination to contest as secretary-general of Organisation of Islamic Conference alleging that he was a `collaborator of Pakistan Army and a controversial person`.
Dhaka, June 11: A senior Awami League leader has been sued for defamation by Salahuddin Quader Chowdhury, adviser of Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia, for challenging his nomination to contest as secretary-general of Organisation of Islamic Conference alleging that he was a "collaborator of Pakistan Army and a controversial person".
Chief metropolitan magistrate, Dhaka, Emdadul Haq while issuing bailable warrant against al leader Abdul Jalil, and Mahfuz Anan and Motiur Rahman, editors of the Daily Star and Vernacular Daily Prothom Alo asked them to furnish a personal security each of taka 20,000.
Jalil had also stated that Chowdhury is a controversial person and asked Begum Zia to nominate a person accepted by all parties for the post.
