Jammu, Nov 21: The Security forces gunned down a top LeT commander in a fierce gunbattle in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir even as an Army jawan lost his life in the operation, official sources said here. LeT's area commander, a resident of Pakistan, Abu Zamrood, was killed in the gunbattle after the forces concorde off Tokri forest belt near Poonch town while acting on intelligence reports that militants had planned a strike in Poonch town and were hiding in the area, the sources said. The militants attacked the forces with grenades and heavy firing started between the two sides, they said, adding a rifleman of the Poonch brigade lost his life.
An AK rifle, four magazines, nine grenades, three pouches, a wireless set and some documents were found from the militant, the sources said and added the firing between the two sides was still on when reports last came in. Bureau Report
