New Delhi, July 22: The TDP, a key ally of NDA, today moved an adjournment motion in the Lok Sabha, demanding that construction of illegal dams across upper Tunga river between Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka by the latter be immediately stopped.
"The Centre should immediately direct the Karnataka
government to stop this construction as it is illegal and
river Krishna is not getting any water, despite monsoons,
because of this," party leader Yerrannaidu later told
reporters.
He said Karnataka government was not abiding by the decisions of the Bachchawat committee report on river water sharing, Centre's directions and inter-state river water sharing.
"Karnataka is functioning like an independent nation without respect to the federal structure of the country," he alleged. Bureau Report
