Diphu (Assam), Nov 17: Tension prevailed in Assam's Karbi Anglong district with the recovery of bodies of two Kuki women from a village, police sources said here today.
The bodies of the two young women were recovered from Dihanglung village near Singhason hills of the district last night. Senior police and civil officials have rushed to the area to prevent any further outbreak of violence due to the prevailing tension in the area.
The army is already assisting the police and Para-military forces to defuse the tension created by the warring factions of the Upds (anti-talks) and Kuki Revolutionary Army (KRA).
Tension in the district began last month with the kidnapping of some Kuki youths by the Upds (anti-talks) faction.

The KRA retaliated under its "operation volcano" in which eight Karbi youths were kidnapped and several houses in four villages in Singhason Hills area torched on November two.
The retaliation continued with the kidnapping and killing of four Kuki students from a school and the killing of three children and torching of several houses in Manja area. Bureau Report
