Mumbai, June 25: Three months after the deportation of 1993 bomb blast accused Mustaffa Majnu from Dubai to face prosecution in India, a special court here will pass its order today on joining him in the trial.
Majnu, brother of absconding prime accused Mohammed
Dossa, was deported on March 20 from Dubai and arrested at a
stage when the trial in the main case has reached its fag end.
In case of Majnu, a legal issue has cropped up as his name does not figure in the list of accused or absconding accused filed by CBI. His involvement figured in the confession of co-accused, defence lawyer Farhana Shah told.
CBI filed supplementary chargesheet against Majnu on May three. CBI alleged that Majnu was deeply involved in the conspiracy and had attended a meeting in Dubai at the house of main conspirator Dawood Ibrahim.
Majnu is also charged with sending his men to Dighi coast in Raigad district on January nine, 1993 for landing of arms and ammunition used in the serial explosions.
In February 1993, some accused went to Pakistan via Dubai for arms training and stayed with Majnu in the Gulf. He also took them to Dawood Ibrahim, CBI alleged.
Majnu is also charged with making travel arrangements for departure of co-accused Ahmed Lambu, Sayyed Qureshi, Yusuf Batka, Abu Baker and Shoeb Baba to Pakistan for arms training.
Majnu's involvement came to light during probe in 1995 but he could not be arrested as he was not traceable. The court issued arrest warrant against him. Later, proclamation order was issued and his properties were attached. Bureau Report
