Lucknow, Oct 08: The priest, who claimed to have solemnised the marriage of slain poetess Madhumita Shukla with Anuj Mishra, today denied having conducted the wedding saying he was "forced" to give a "wrong" statement by Amarmani Tripathi, a former minister and an accused in the murder case. A senior CBI official said here today that during questioning, the priest Ganga Narayan Dixit retracted his earlier statement and told the investigating agency that he was "forced by Tripathi to make a false statement". Dixit had earlier claimed that he had solemnised the poetess' marriage with Mishra, an IIT, Kanpur student, in December 2002 in Lucknow and also produced a photograph of Mishra and Shukla in a bridal dress. The official said that Dixit was summoned to the CBI's headquarters today and was questioned about Shukla's reported marriage. The grilling continued for over two-and-a-half hours, he said.
