Bhopal, Oct 20: BJP election committee will today finalise the names of candidates for upcoming assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh. According to sources, committee will give preference to Uma Bharati`s candidates to settle her displeasure. There had been signs of resentment in Uma`s behaviour in recent past over the distribution of tickets in the state. But the dust seems to have settled now with Uma participating in today`s meeting.
Yesterday, Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee had said that Madhya Pradesh never had a woman chief minister and his party had taken the initiative in proposing a woman candidate for the post.
Addressing a women`s rally here, Mr Vajpayee urged the people of Madhya Pradesh to elect a woman as their chief minister.
He said the women of the state had climbed to the top post in bureaucracy but none could become the political chief.
Meanwhile, Congress has already finalised names of nearly 80 per cent of candidates for the elections.
