Dushanbe, Nov 14: Notwithstanding the recent bitterness in Indo-Pak ties, Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee intends to go to Pakistan for the Saarc summit in January, highly placed sources said today. As of now Vajpayee intended to attend the Saarc summit in Islamabad and this would be formally conveyed to the hosts in due course, the sources said.
There has been a war of words between the two sides even after the Prime Minister announced his peace initiative in April and the latest instance of Indo-Pak spat was that which involved the conduct of Pakistan Information Minister Shaikh Rashid's in Delhi.
Lashing out at Shaikh Rashid for his reported unsavoury comments about Vajpayee, External Affairs Minister Yashwant Sinha told reporters accompanying the Prime Minister on his foreign trip that his remarks were reflective of his "class".
"This shows his class and the class of Pakistani politicians in general," Sinha said reacting to remarks attributed to Rashid that he did not know that Vajpayee was hard of hearing. Bureau Report
