New Delhi, July 28: Bharat Sanchar Nigam today rebutted the charge that it delayed interconnectivity with Reliance and said Reliance owed it crores of rupees on account of disruption of its cable network. "BSNL strongly denies the allegations made by Reliance. In fact BSNL had never delayed pursuing of interconnectivity to any operator, as per the framework of the agreement made with them," a BSNL statement said here.
Reacting strongly to allegations by Reliance that it was losing 35 per cent of WLL business due to state-owned company delaying interconnection, BSNL said, "Reliance owed crores of rupees on account of cutting or disruption of copper cable or optical fibre cable by digging out the network of BSNL all over the operation area of the country." Recently Reliance Infocomm executive director Manoj Modi had stated that at least 35 per cent of the company's business had been lost in terms of subscriber acquisition as reliance was unable to provide its WLL mobile services in about 390 cities due to non-interconnection with BSNL.
Reliance, which recently launched its scheme 501 called Monsoon Hangama, claimed that it could not offer this scheme to the people of various cities as there was no interconnection with the BSNL. Bureau Report
