Vijayawada, May 05: BJP national president M Venkaiah Naidu today said no “outside power” could influence India's foreign policy or dictate terms to restore normalcy with Pakistan. "Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee, as a last chance is determined to initiate dialogue with Pakistan to create normalcy on both sides," Naidu told reporters.
"Now the ball is in Pakistan's court, though we are optimistic much depended on Pakistan's response to our initiative to create a conducive atmosphere," he said adding, “Now Pakistan should contain cross border tension, stop hate-India campaign and try to cooperate for economic development.” Referring to Congress party's statement that VHP's “trishul” distribution in Delhi would create communal tension and that Centre had failed to contain it, Naidu said Congress wanted to divert the attention of people from main issues following the forthcoming elections to four states, where congress has failed miserably.
He lashed out at Congress for not criticising the lathi distribution in Bihar and swords distribution by Samajwadi Party.
Naidu said the party would release independent manifesto for each of the four states that would be going to polls. Referring to BJP holding discussions with RSS and VHP on government policies, he said, "There was nothing wrong to hold discussions, with organisations that have a number of educated people experts in different fields. However, the final decision rests with the government."
"When government can have discussions with naxals and other militant organisations, what is wrong in having discussions with RSS and VHP leaders," Naidu questioned.
Congratulating the scientists for developing Light Combat Aircraft (LCA), Naidu said, "Earlier this project was shelved, but the present government successfully implemented it within two-and-half years, to acquire self-reliance."
The Women Reservation Bill would be introduced in the Parliament session, the BJP leader said and added that a central legislation with unanimity was necessary to ban cow slaughter. Bureau Report
