Baripada (Orissa), June 25: The newly-floated united Jharkhand front will continue the agitation for creation of a 'greater Jharkhand state' comprising the newly-created state and areas from neighbouring states of Orissa, West Bengal and Chattisgarh.
The front would also focus on emergence of a viable alternative to the present BJP-led coalition government in Jharkhand, Salkhan Murmu, leader of Jharkhand Disam Party (JDP) which is in the front besides four other political parties, said here last night.
He said the front would hold national convention at Ranchi on June 30 next to discuss core issues like the domicile problem and reservation. It also asked for inclusion of Olchiki language in the eighth schedule of the constitution.
Asserting that the new front demanded 90 per cent share for 'adivasis' and 'moolvasis' in education, jobs and trade in Jharkhand, Murmu said the struggle to achieve this will continue.
Stating that the present rulers in Jharkhand would be given 45 days time to meet the demands, he said if the government failed to respond, a 'rail and road jam agitation' would be held on August 16 in the state. A bandh in support of these demands would precede the agitation on July 14 in Jharkhand, he said.
Besides, the front also decided to gherao the MPs and MLAs of Jharkhand on August 9, coinciding with the day on which the Quit India Movement was launched, he said.
